CHRIST COMMUNITY CHURCH

Pastor Walter Colace is the Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church in El Centro, California. From the time he trusted Christ at age 28, through the Teen Challenge Ministry in San Diego, God has taught him in the "School of Prayer." After a year and a half of study and service, he returned home to El Centro with his wife Grisel. He began a Bible study for drug addicts and those with life dominating problems. Through prayer, that Bible study led to the formation of the New Creations Men's Home, where hundreds of men have now turned from their destructive lifestyles by the power of Jesus Christ and His Word. Through prayer, that first home was later moved to a converted labor camp ~ where New Creations can now offer residential housing and spiritual renewal to over 75 men.

Led by God to start a new church, Walter walked the property of an abandoned Catholic Church building on 5th and Orange Ave in El Centro, and prayed. A local businessman, when asked to investigate the availability of the property, bought it and rented it to the church for $1.00 per month, in answer to prayer.

Christ Community Church began in that 200 seat sancutary in January 1998. By April, two services were needed. And by December, both were full. During this time, prayer had been on-going for a larger facility, even while purchasing the first. By God's grace, a 500-seat Presbyterian Church building on an adjacent lot was made available in January 1999. By July, CCC had given over $30,000 to missions as well as paid off the original property at 5th and Orange, which now offers Sunday Worship Services in Spanish by Pastor Sammy Carrillo.

In the aftermath of the 7.2 earthquake which struck the Imperial Valley area on the afternoon of April 4th, 2010, the historic, 50+ year old Main Sanctuary received irreparable damage resulting in hopeful plans to re-construct a new facility on the existing site.
